Providing professional Web Content Management for SMEs and the Third Sector since 2003
15th May 2008
Sick Doctors Trust was established in 1996 by a group of doctors who were themselves recovering from addictions and were concerned at the lack of effective arrangements for helping others who found themselves in difficulty as a result of alcohol or drug use.
We were contacted by Chris Wilson, a trustee of the Sick Doctors Trust, in September 2007. Chris had being doing a great job of publishing information about the trust and their activities online for a couple of years but felt it was about time to upgrade.
Luckily for us Chris had not long joined the North East Employed and Locum GPs Group (NELG) and he was impressed by their website which we had developed. This resulted in an email asking us if we "might be interested in taking on the design, setup/hosting and help with maintenance" of the Sick Doctors Trust site.
Jump forward to January and a decision had still not been taken. Whilst we had provided an outline estimate on a Content Management System, which met the requirements the trust had provided, this was obviously not enough to convince them to make a swift decision and move ahead.
The answer to the problem was for us to use the Grelb WCM to create a demonstration site for them, enabling them to see the difference between their existing site and what we could offer plus get their hands on the Content Management aspect of the site to see if it really was easy to use.
This did the trick and although the trust still needed to get another two quotes for comparison - always recommended - we are delighted to say that in early March an order was placed and they began to gather and input content into their new site.
Their new site has now gone live and we hope it helps the trust in their following aims:
Getting information off the Internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant.
