If you have been reading through our web design pages you will see that there are many benefits to registering a domain and hosting a holding page. You will also know how creating a static site multiplies those benefits with each extra page you add.
However, the real key to a successful website is being able to tweak your content to match your visitors needs and you can determine those needs by analysing your web site statistics. We provide AwStats and Webalizer with our hosting, but it's not a difficult task to setup Google Analaytics on any website for even more in depth information.
With these free tools you can work out what web sites and search engines are referring people to your site, which search terms they are using in the search engines to find you. You will also know if people repeatedly visit your site and the average number of pages they view per visit. With Google Analytics you can go much further and construct conversion funnels which track how far people move down a path towards a form of conversion (sale, application, registration, download etc.).
Knowing all of this information is great, but if you have a holding page or static site you can't tweak it without going back to your designer/developer which will incur extra cost and possible time delays.
This is why we strongly reccomend every organsiation has a dynamic 'content managed' web site.

This is enough to create a small to medium sized information based site which, if managed correctly, will outperform a holding page or static site tenfold.
